Despite previous interest, Portsmouth is not in the race to sign Brest winger Karamoko Dembele, according to head coach John Mousinho. Former journalist Darren Witcoop had claimed on social media that Pompey, along with Sheffield Wednesday and Derby, had made bids for the 21-year-old.

Dembele, who impressed with nine goals in 47 appearances during a loan spell at Blackpool last season, has attracted attention from several clubs. However, Mousinho has dismissed reports of Portsmouth’s current involvement, stating: “There’s nothing in that at the moment, that’s another one there’s no preparing or readying a bid!”

Similarly, Mousinho has denied rumors that the Blues have made an offer for Abu Kamara.

Portsmouth has already strengthened their wing options with the additions of Josh Murphy and Sammy Silvera during the transfer window. They join Paddy Lane, Anthony Scully, and Gavin Whyte in competing for two spots as Pompey gears up for life in the Championship.

Both Murphy and Silvera impressed in their debuts during Tuesday night’s 3-1 victory over Gosport, with Murphy opening the scoring. Scully and Lane also featured, while Whyte missed out due to an injury that has hindered his pre-season preparations.

Pompey’s current priorities include signing a goalkeeper, a center-half, a number 10, and a central midfielder. Meanwhile, Zak Swanson is expected to resolve the right-back position by signing a new deal this week, following the expiry of his two-year contract.
