Danny Röhl Drops Bombshell Revelation on Sheffield Wednesday’s Ian Poveda Pursuit

July 20, 2024

As the start of the English Football League season approaches, former Sheffield Wednesday loanee Ian Poveda remains without a club. Earlier this year, the Colombian international had an impactful spell at Hillsborough, contributing to the club’s remarkable turnaround. The Owls have expressed interest in securing Poveda on a permanent deal.

Poveda isn’t the only player from the 2023/24 campaign that Sheffield Wednesday is pursuing. James Beadle has already returned, and negotiations are ongoing for Iké Ugbo. However, discussions regarding Poveda, the former Leeds United player, have been notably quiet. Fans have eagerly awaited updates on the 24-year-old, but head coach Danny Röhl has emphasized that some deals are more complex than others.

“Some deals take more time,” Röhl remarked last week at their camp at St. George’s Park. “We evaluate players from a sporting perspective to improve our squad, but it also depends on the player’s expectations and what we can offer as a club. We can’t finalize every deal immediately because of varying demands. We adhere to our principles while looking for solutions, which is part of the business.”

Sheffield Wednesday has already secured nine new signings for the 2024/25 season and renewed contracts for key players like Barry Bannan, Liam Palmer, Josh Windass, and most recently, Di’Shon Bernard. However, their transfer activities are not concluded.

The Owls are set to play against RB Salzburg in Austria on Saturday afternoon, and The Star will provide live updates on the game.
