Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl remains uncertain about what the summer transfer window holds for one of his players.

The Owls have made significant changes to their squad this summer, bringing in nine new players to Hillsborough. Additionally, they have secured new deals for key players like Barry Bannan, Liam Palmer, Josh Windass, and most recently Di’Shon Bernard. These moves have given Rohl a strong team ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season.

With five weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, it’s likely that Sheffield Wednesday will make a few more signings. The club remains keen on Ike Ugbo and is expected to secure some Premier League loans later in the summer. However, with many new arrivals, departures are also anticipated, particularly in the attacking third where Rohl has focused heavily this summer.

Danny Rohl Comments on Bailey Cadamarteri’s Future

One player who might be loaned out is young striker Bailey Cadamarteri. The 19-year-old made his Championship debut last season, scoring four goals in 23 league appearances. As the season progressed, his role became more of a backup. Despite this, Sheffield Wednesday handed Cadamarteri a long-term contract shortly after his league debut.

Discussing Cadamarteri’s future, Rohl described him as a “quality” player and told The Star, “It is a very difficult question at the moment. It’s not clear which players will come in and how many players we can get for the centre-forward position. It depends a little bit. In my mind, I want to have different profiles again, not just similar profiles. It’s important to have a target player in the squad, a player with speed, a player who can receive the ball in the red zone. These are the different profiles of player you need to be flexible and this is what we want to do and try. In the following weeks we will see in which direction we can go.”

Should Sheffield Wednesday Loan Out Bailey Cadamarteri?

Cadamarteri has shown great potential and is a natural goal-scorer, evident from his goals for Sheffield Wednesday last season. The club is focusing on youth development under Rohl, and his main hope for Cadamarteri is further development next season.

However, if Ugbo returns this summer, Cadamarteri’s progress might be best served by a loan move to a League One or League Two club. As Rohl suggests, Cadamarteri’s future may depend on the other business the Owls can accomplish this summer. Cadamarteri might even prefer a loan move himself, considering the limited starts he had in the latter part of last season.

Despite this, he remains a player with significant potential, and Rohl will certainly keep him in mind for the future.
