‘I AM NOT A MAGICIAN!’ Daniel Farke Drops Bombshell, Leaves Fans Stunned as Leeds Contemplates Selling TWO Key Players

July 25, 2024

Daniel Farke revealed on Wednesday that he still aims to strengthen two specific positions in his Leeds United squad, although this plan could change depending on player departures.

Farke spoke after Leeds’ second pre-season friendly of the summer, where they secured a 4-1 victory over Hannover in Germany. The match saw Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe, and Mateo Joseph (who scored twice) on the scoresheet, with assists provided by Brenden Aaronson and Jayden Bogle.

Dan James and Patrick Bamford were absent due to injury but are expected to be fit for the next friendly. Farke’s post-match comments provided an insightful update on the team’s transfer plans.

Farke’s Update on Transfer Priorities and Key Players

Currently, Farke’s primary focus is on bolstering the midfield and securing a full-back. Despite already signing Joe Rothwell, Leeds are seeking an additional attack-minded number eight and some backup for the full-back positions. However, the transfer strategy might need to adapt based on the futures of Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto, who are attracting interest from top-tier clubs.

Farke told the Yorkshire Evening Post that while nothing is certain in football, he is pleased with Summerville and Gnonto’s commitment and performance during pre-season. “You can never rule out anything in football, so all is possible. I can’t give any guarantees as I am not a magician. I can only judge what I see, and both are fully integrated, working hard, and enjoying their time here,” Farke said.

Farke noted the maturity shown by both players when targeted by tough tackles from opponents, highlighting their resilience and readiness for the upcoming season.

Preparing for Potential Departures

Leeds are preparing for the possibility that both Summerville and Gnonto might leave, even though losing one doesn’t necessarily mean the other will stay. Behind the scenes, Leeds are ready to move for their identified targets as soon as any departures are confirmed.

Among the potential replacements, Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has been linked with a move to Elland Road. Leeds are wisely holding off on any immediate moves to ensure they only act if their current players’ transfer deals materialize.
