Sheffield Wednesday is nearing the completion of a deal to sign a striker who was recently targeted by Leeds United. The negotiations involve a loan-to-buy agreement.

Last season, Sheffield Wednesday narrowly avoided relegation to League One, thanks in large part to the efforts of German manager Danny Rohl. Rohl has since gained recognition as a pundit for ITV Sport at Euro 2024. Now, he is focused on building a team that aims to improve significantly on their 20th-place finish.

Rohl has already brought in nine new players, including Max Lowe, Jamal Lowe, and Nathaniel Chalobah. Interestingly, the club failed to secure Ian Poveda from Leeds, who signed a three-year deal with Sunderland instead.

Sheffield Wednesday Close In on Striker After Leeds Approach

Leeds fans might recall Sory Kaba, a striker who was on their radar last summer. Despite interest from six Championship clubs, Kaba joined Las Palmas, a move that has not panned out as expected, with only one goal in 20 games. As a result, Kaba is expected to leave the Spanish club soon.

According to Africa Foot, Wednesday is now in talks to sign the “great” striker on a loan-to-buy deal. However, they are not the only club interested in Kaba. Since April, several Championship and English clubs have shown interest in him, including Birmingham City, Hull City, and Watford.

Kaba impressed during his half-season stint in the Championship with Cardiff City, scoring eight goals in 17 games. Africa Foot reports that Leeds approached Kaba earlier this year, but it appears he is set to join Sheffield Wednesday on an initial loan from Las Palmas, with an option to make the move permanent.
