July 31, 2024

Stoke City manager Steven Schumacher refrained from identifying specific players but expressed optimism about potential new signings, stating that the club is on the brink of bolstering its squad.

Rumors abound that Stoke City is eyeing a move for Sam Gallagher, who was notably absent from the Rovers lineup in recent friendly matches against Morecambe and Wigan.

Having netted five goals in 27 appearances last season, Gallagher remains contracted to Ewood Park for one more year.

Schumacher guided his team to a 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in their latest pre-season outing, continuing the preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Following the match at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, Schumacher maintained a cautious stance, telling Stoke on Trent Live: “While I won’t disclose names, we’ve been diligent in our efforts to strengthen the squad. We are in need of not just one but multiple players, each possessing distinct qualities that complement our existing roster. Rest assured, we are working on it, and announcements will follow in due course.”

Discussing his preferences, the manager mentioned his fondness for having a diverse array of strikers capable of fulfilling different roles on the pitch. He specifically praised young Emre Tezgel for his standout performance against an imposing opponent in Santos, emphasizing the opportunities created and the potential for scoring that Tezgel showcased.

Looking ahead to the new season, Stoke City aims to improve upon their 17th-place finish in the Championship, with Schumacher gearing up for his first complete campaign in charge.

The Potters are set to commence their league journey with a home game against Coventry on Saturday, August 10.
