“We’re certain about Hajacking him” -Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United LOCK HORNS in BLOODY BATTLE for £6 MILLION Brighton midfielder – Who will come out on TOP?

August 13, 2024

Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing a potential move for promising midfielder Malick Yalcouyé from Brighton & Hove Albion, according to sources at The Star. The Mali-born player, who has limited experience with just 14 senior appearances in European football, burst onto the scene with Swedish club IFK Göteborg earlier this year. Brighton recently acquired him for a reported fee of £6m, and now Wednesday are leading the race for his signature on a season-long loan.

Reports suggest that Brighton is open to loaning out Yalcouyé, with Sheffield United and Luton Town also showing interest alongside Wednesday. The Owls have been monitoring Yalcouyé closely for some time now, even initiating contact before his move to Brighton was finalized. Manager Danny Röhl is keen on bolstering his midfield options, with Yalcouyé emerging as a top target due to his dynamic playing style as a nimble central midfielder.

At just five-foot-seven, the 18-year-old possesses great energy and typically operates as a deep-lying playmaker. Brighton’s strategy of identifying and developing young talents for profit has been successful, and with Owls already having a positive relationship with the Premier League outfit, a loan move for Yalcouyé could be on the cards. Röhl emphasized the importance of finding the right additions to enhance their squad, hinting at potential moves in the upcoming week as the new season unfolds.
