Nathan Ngoy’s anticipated transfer to Luton Town has hit a roadblock, with Hatters boss Rob Edwards opting to pull the plug on the deal. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed that the player, who had traveled to finalize the move, has been instructed to return to Belgium.

Earlier reports had suggested that Ngoy was on the brink of joining Luton, with all details seemingly ironed out. It was even confidently proclaimed that he was set to become a Luton player. However, Tavolieri now discloses an “unexpected twist” in the saga, shedding light on some “unusual” developments behind the scenes.

Allegedly, an internal disagreement at Luton concerning their recruitment approach led to Edwards concluding that Ngoy, the Standard Liege defender, was surplus to requirements. This prompted the manager to backtrack on the deal, believing that the club’s resources should be redirected towards other areas deemed more critical.

Consequently, the transfer has been called off, leaving Ngoy with no option but to return to Belgium and rejoin Standard Liege.
