BREAKING: Sunderland in utter turmoil as transfer and contract negotiations reach breaking point amidst chaotic false deadline day rumor

August 31, 2024

On the much-anticipated deadline day, online whispers swirled around the possible termination of Sunderland defender Joe Anderson’s contract. However, The Echo has uncovered that these claims are unfounded.

Contrary to the rumors, the 23-year-old talent, a product of Everton’s academy, has not had his Black Cats contract cut short by the club. While Anderson was considered a player on the fringes expected to depart during the deadline rush, no concrete move materialized. The center-back had inked a three-and-a-half-year deal with Sunderland in January 2023, keeping him tied to the club until 2026.

Anderson showcased his skills during Sunderland’s pre-season matches under RĂ©gis Le Bris and even featured in the Carabao Cup defeat against Preston North End. As of now, he is poised to challenge for a spot among Le Bris’ starting eleven while also being open to representing Graeme Murty’s under-21 squad intermittently.

The Black Cats are gearing up to clash against Portsmouth in the Championship this weekend, a fixture where Anderson is expected to make the journey to Fratton Park.
