Following a disappointing defeat to their arch-rivals Celtic in a Scottish Premiership clash at Celtic Park, Rangers boss Philippe Clement faced the media and addressed the missed early opportunities by his team when the score was still level.

Celtic emerged victorious with goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi, and Callum McGregor under manager Brendan Rodgers.

Despite striker Cyriel Dessers’ impressive form this season, the Belgian forward had an off day against Celtic, missing key chances to put his team ahead.

In the opening stages, Dessers squandered a clear chance to score when his shot was comfortably saved by goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Additionally, Rabbi Matondo failed to convert a headed effort from a pinpoint James Tavernier cross moments later.

These missed opportunities proved costly as Celtic seized the lead through Maeda in the 17th minute before Furuhashi doubled their advantage just before halftime.

Reflecting on the game, Clement expressed frustration at his team’s inability to convert their early chances into goals, emphasizing the importance of clinical finishing to seize momentum.

Despite Dessers having another opportunity to score in the second half after Ross McCausland’s interception, the striker failed to find the target, adding to Rangers’ woes in a disappointing defeat.
