Luton winger Tahith Chong suffered a distressing head injury during a recent match against Plymouth, collapsing in the penalty area after a collision while going up for a header.
The former Manchester United player was visibly in pain as he fell to the ground, prompting swift action from Luton’s medical team. They quickly attended to Chong on the field and later helped him off, revealing a noticeable swelling on his head. Subsequently, Jacob Brown took his place on the pitch for the second half.
In an update shared on Twitter by Luton, it was mentioned that Chong was able to walk off the field unaided after the incident towards the end of the first half.
Chong, 24, had joined Luton from Birmingham City last season, featuring prominently in their campaign as they were relegated from the Premier League. Despite the challenging season, he managed to record five goals across various competitions.
Starting his career in Feyenoord’s youth system before transitioning to Manchester United, Chong had limited appearances for the Red Devils. Loan spells at Werder Bremen, Club Brugge, and Birmingham eventually led to his permanent departure from Manchester United in 2022.
In a statement regarding his departure, Chong emphasized the importance of regular game time for his development as a player. He expressed the need to seek opportunities elsewhere to achieve his goals and progress in his career, highlighting the decision as a necessary step forward in his journey.
