Following Derby County’s 2-0 victory over QPR, coach Paul Warne expressed his delight with the result despite the team battling numerous injuries that had depleted their squad depth. With Curtis Nelson and Marcus Harness netting quick goals to secure the win, the Rams put an end to a three-game losing streak.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by recent injuries to key players like Ben Osborn and Tawanda Chirewa, Warne commended his team for delivering a solid performance that lifted them above relegation-threatened Rangers in the standings.
Reflecting on the match, Warne commented, “I am genuinely pleased with our performance today considering the circumstances. Our squad was thin, but the players stepped up admirably. We showcased great play in transitions, but there were areas where we need to improve, especially in the final third. I spoke to the team at halftime not out of anger, but to emphasize the need for more intensity and precision to compete at a higher level in the league.”
He continued, “In the second half, we showed vast improvement. We created opportunities, defended resolutely, and ultimately controlled the game.
