Following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday last summer, former player Will Vaulks has struggled to find his footing.

Sheffield Wednesday’s impressive away form continued as they triumphed over Portsmouth with a 2-1 victory. Michael Smith of the Owls scored a spectacular goal in the second half, propelling the team ahead with a strike that left the Portsmouth goalkeeper helpless. This standout performance likely solidified Smith’s place in the squad.

New signing Yan Valery also shone in the second half, contributing to the Owls’ comeback from a one-goal deficit at Fratton Park.

The decision to acquire Valery has proven fruitful amidst some hits and misses in the summer transfer dealings. The choice to let go of Will Vaulks now appears to be a wise move, evident in the team’s recent performances away from home.

After moving to Oxford United following the expiration of his contract, Vaulks has struggled to make an impact. Fans have expressed disappointment in his performances, with some labeling him as a liability rather than a scapegoat.

Several players, including Vaulks, departed Sheffield Wednesday in a surprising summer exodus orchestrated by manager Danny Rohl. While fans were taken aback by these moves, it seems that Rohl’s ruthless actions have paid dividends for the team.
