Sunderland wanted to forget a dismal display on the previous weekend, while bookies expected the home team to do likewise after a poor showing a day earlier. Despite a relentless pressure, Regis Le Bris’ team could not score the goals needed to come away from the match with a win.

Sunderland may have tried their best against West Brom on their match but one of the players was possibly having their worst night. Former Bordeaux forward, Josh Maja, disappointed when he returned to his former club after joining Bordeaux in 2019. Even the striker who could hardly be spotted in the game, was taken off the field in the 79 th minute because he did not pose any threats to the rivals.

In his last moments at the pitch Maja was welcomed by hustle and jeers from Sunderland fans who have not forgotten about his complicated exit from the club in the past. Although Maja was in good scoring spree having scored 10 goals in 17 league matches, he failed to unleash himself due to a compact Sunderland defense line up.

While it was almost completely a poor attacking display by two teams, the two best players which included Chris Mepham and Dan Ballard from the Sunderland team were easily identifiable. Although Sunderland managed by containing one of the premier league’s top striker, they failed in the other part of expectation of using that chance to score and win the match.
