Celtic’s chances of a title defence in the Premiership suffered a major setback in the Premier Sports Cup final, and left-back Greg Taylor was in the middle of the storm. A poor pass by Taylor led to conceding the first goal that made Rangers furious and Taylor’s temper showed it.
When the Premiership leaders looked vulnerable, though, Taylor sealed their fate on the stroke of half-time by missing a installation. Igamane jumps for the mishit ball and instead of shooting, he unleashes a charge into the Kasper Schmeichel’s area where he makes an amazing reflex save. However, from the resulting rebound, Rangers took the lead thanks to the work of Nedim Bajrami.
After the goal, Taylor and his compatriot, Carter-Vickers gestured to the linesman claiming offside but their protestation was ignored, VAR also supported the man.
Taylor became annoyed and pissed and was recorded rolling on the floor in anger before confronting Carter-Vickers. The American defender, it seemed, was in Taylor’s crosshairs, with the left-back looking annoyed that Carter-Vickers was not an available passing option just before the goal.
Schmeichel tried to stop Taylor from going on making further attempts to attack each other and to force him down to sit. But once again the damage had been done and it did not take long for Celtic fans to pin the blame on Taylor for his mistake.
Their supporters took to social media to air their grievances, one fan noted, “Greg Taylor that is enough now. Clear mistake.” Another said, ‘He should never wear the color again for the team’ referring to Greg Taylor. Another viewer joined in, “Greg Taylor is not worthy to be in the Celtic first team.” On this one, the cat’s out of the bag and Alex Valle reigns supreme. I think everyone who has ever watched football knows this, but why doesn’t Brendan Rodgers?
