Despite the setback, Owls boss Danny Röhl was pleased with his team’s response, as they adapted to playing with 10 men and secured a clinical victory. Röhl had no complaints about the red card decision, acknowledging that Bernard’s discipline is an area for improvement.
The two-match suspension will be a significant blow to Wednesday, but Röhl is confident that Bernard will learn from the experience and continue to develop as a player. “Dish will learn from this,” Röhl said. “When we speak about development and improvement, this is exactly what he must and will improve upon. I am sure it will take him to the next level, he has everything he needs for the next league.”
Röhl’s comments suggest that he believes Bernard has the potential to play in the Premier League in the future. For now, however, Wednesday will have to navigate the challenges of the Championship without their star defender.
