Crystal Palace are expected to intensify discussions with head coach Oliver Glasner during the upcoming international break, with the Austrian reportedly attracting attention from several major clubs across Europe.
According to Sky Sports News, Palace have already held constructive talks with Glasner about the club’s long-term vision. His current deal expires in the summer, and while there is no suggestion he has turned down an offer, he is understood to want assurances that the club will back him in building on recent success.
Glasner has already written his name into Palace’s history books. The 51-year-old delivered the club’s first-ever FA Cup triumph last season and has overseen a record-breaking 19-game unbeaten run, capped by a Conference League victory over Dynamo Kyiv.
Despite those achievements, Glasner has not hidden his frustration with the Eagles’ transfer activity. Although he praised chairman Steve Parish for blocking Marc Guehi’s departure on Deadline Day, he has been vocal about the club’s lack of urgency in the market over the past two summers.
Palace, however, remain calm about the situation. The hierarchy recognise they have a manager of high calibre entering the final months of his contract and are keen to secure his future.
Speculation around Glasner has also been fuelled by uncertainty at Manchester United, where Ruben Amorim is under pressure after a disappointing start to the season. Though Amorim retains the support of minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Glasner’s name has surfaced among bookmakers’ favourites should the Old Trafford job become available, thanks to his successful use of the 3-4-2-1 system that United have been trying to implement.
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has weighed in, suggesting Glasner would find it difficult to turn down United if they came calling, but warned he may not be the right fit for Old Trafford.
For now, Palace are focused on convincing their manager that Selhurst Park remains the best place for him to continue his project. With European clubs circling, the coming weeks could be pivotal in shaping both Glasner’s and Palace’s future.
