Wolves head coach Vítor Pereira was shown a red card during the first half of his side’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion after losing his cool on the touchline.

The incident occurred in the 21st minute, moments after Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba was booked for a foul on Hwang Hee-Chan. Pereira reacted furiously, leaping up and down in protest before directing his anger toward fourth official Paul Tierney. The 57-year-old was also spotted kicking a ball into the officials’ dugout, prompting referee Jarred Gillett to sprint over and send him off immediately for what was later described as “irresponsible behaviour.”
The Premier League confirmed the decision via its matchday centre, posting:
“#WOLBHA – 21’: The referee issued a red card to Vítor Pereira for irresponsible behaviour in the technical area.”

Despite losing their manager early, Wolves responded well and managed to take the lead. A shot from Marshall Munetsi was parried onto the bar by Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, only to rebound off the Dutchman’s back and roll into the net — a cruel moment of misfortune for the visitors.
Brighton, managed by Fabian Hürzeler, pressed for an equaliser and were eventually rewarded in the 85th minute when defender Jan Paul van Hecke rose highest to head home a cross from Stefanos Tzimas, earning his side a hard-fought 1–1 draw.
Speaking after the game, Van Hecke admitted he had mixed feelings about the result:
“In the end, it’s good we have a point, but we came for more. I’m a bit disappointed — Wolves are a tough team, a lot of long balls and duels. We did better in the second half, created chances, but their defending was strong.”
He added that Brighton’s patience nearly paid off:
