Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has reportedly made Marco Silva his number one choice to take over at the City Ground following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. However, the Fulham boss is said to be hesitant about leaving Craven Cottage midway through the season.

Postecoglou’s short tenure came to an end on Saturday after eight matches without a win, prompting Marinakis to begin his search for a third head coach of the campaign. While Sean Dyche and Roberto Mancini—both currently without clubs—remain strong contenders, Silva has quickly emerged as an appealing option due to his previous working relationship with Marinakis during their time together at Olympiacos.

According to The Times, Silva is the Forest owner’s preferred candidate, but there is uncertainty over whether the 48-year-old would be willing to depart Fulham before the campaign concludes. Silva’s current deal with the west London side runs until the end of the season, and his preference is believed to be waiting until then before considering a new challenge.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reports that Silva’s contract includes an £8 million release clause which could be triggered mid-season. Although Forest are not opposed to paying compensation for their next manager, the club must remain cautious due to Profit and Sustainability rules, particularly after spending around £200 million during the summer transfer window.

For now, Silva remains a leading name on Marinakis’s shortlist—but convincing him to swap Fulham for Forest before the end of the season could prove a major obstacle.
