Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has refused to confirm reports suggesting he recently met with the agent of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi.

Speaking to DAZN, with his remarks later shared by Sky Deutschland, Eberl was questioned about speculation linking Bayern with a move for the England international, whose contract at Selhurst Park is set to expire next summer.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has already acknowledged that Guéhi will leave the club as a free agent, and interest in the 24-year-old remains high across Europe. Liverpool came close to signing him last summer before talks broke down, and the Reds are reportedly still monitoring the situation.

Recent reports from Sky Deutschland claimed Eberl is an admirer of Guéhi and had held a private meeting with his representatives, with Bayern said to be stepping up their pursuit.

When asked about the rumours, Eberl did not confirm or deny the claims but admitted that Bayern must be ready to reinforce their defence — particularly with uncertainty surrounding Dayot Upamecano’s future.

“Our clear goal is to extend Upa’s contract,” Eberl said. “If that doesn’t work out, for whatever reason, then we have to be prepared. It would be foolish not to. I’m not confirming anything, but we’re active in the market.”

While Eberl stopped short of confirming Bayern’s interest in Guéhi, his comments suggest the German champions are keeping their options open ahead of a possible defensive reshuffle.

Guéhi, a regular starter for Palace, has made 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
