Nottingham Forest finds themselves amidst their third managerial change of the campaign, with Sean Dyche taking over the reins following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou stepped in to replace Nuno Espirito Santo just three games into the season, but his tenure at the City Ground proved to be short-lived, failing to secure a win in any of his eight games in charge.

His departure came swiftly after Forest’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea on 18 October, prompting the club to act swiftly in appointing Dyche as his successor on 21 October in an effort to steer the team away from the Premier League relegation zone.

In Dyche’s managerial debut, Forest secured a commendable 2-0 victory over Porto in the Europa League on 23 October, only to face a setback with a 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth on 26 October.

The expectations for Dyche at Forest have been set high, with former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively stating to Football Insider that while Premier League survival remains a priority, Forest should aim for at least reaching the Europa League quarter-finals. Borson emphasized the squad’s quality and potential for success in the competition.

Despite currently standing in 17th place in the league phase of the Europa League and holding four points from their initial three matches, Forest’s focus on navigating both the Premier League and Europa League journey remains crucial.

As Forest currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League, trailing fourth-bottom Fulham by three points after nine games, Dyche’s task of securing the team’s league status alongside their European campaign poses a significant challenge.

While Dyche signed a contract with Forest until 2027 after departing Everton earlier this year, Football Insider’s revelation on 21 October suggested that the manager won’t have a substantial budget at his disposal for the January transfer window. With the club investing over £200 million on summer acquisitions, Dyche is expected to maximize the potential of the existing squad.

Forest’s forthcoming fixture sees them face Manchester United at the City Ground on 1 November, where Dyche will seek to guide his team through the challenges of a grueling schedule in both domestic and continental competitions.
