Crystal Palace’s rising star, Hindolo Mustapha, is expected to make a return to the club in January following a disappointing loan spell at FC Nuremberg.
According to BILD, Mustapha is being labeled as the German side’s ‘biggest transfer flop’ of the season. Despite showing promise in the Premier League’s youth system with 15 goal contributions in 23 games last year, he has struggled significantly in Germany.
Since joining Nuremberg in the summer, Mustapha has only made lackluster appearances for the reserve team and has not come close to breaking into the first team. Reports of disciplinary issues have also surfaced, with coach Miroslav Klose hinting at attitude problems.
It seems that Mustapha’s defensive deficiencies are a major reason for his lack of progress, and it is unlikely that his loan will be extended or may even be terminated in January. Both Nuremberg and Crystal Palace are disappointed with his lack of development, as what was hoped to be a beneficial loan deal has turned into a disaster.
