West Ham are said to be considering a move for Norwich City forward Josh Sargent, according to a report from Football Insider.
The 25-year-old joined Norwich from Werder Bremen in 2021 but found it difficult to make an impact during his time in the Premier League. Since the Canaries dropped into the Championship, however, the United States international has rediscovered his scoring touch and become a key figure in their attack.
Norwich may be battling near the bottom of the table this season, but Sargent has still contributed 10 goals and assists combined in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Football Insider report that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to refresh West Ham’s forward line during the January transfer window as the club look to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone. Callum Wilson and Niclas Fullkrug are currently the main striking options, yet Wilson’s ongoing injury issues and speculation surrounding Fullkrug’s future have left the Hammers short up front.
Alongside names such as Troy Parrott and Ivan Toney, Sargent has emerged as another option under consideration. West Ham have been tracking his progress closely in recent weeks, with club scouts reportedly impressed by his recent performances.

The Hammers are believed to be unwilling to spend more than £20 million on a new striker in January and feel Sargent could be attainable within that budget, despite being under contract at Carrow Road until 2028.
Now at a prime age, Sargent could represent a smart addition if West Ham decide to press ahead with a deal. It remains to be seen whether the club will make a formal move in the winter window or wait until the summer.
West Ham have shown signs of improvement since appointing Espirito Santo following Graham Potter’s departure, but consistency has remained an issue. With 13 points from 16 matches, they sit three points adrift of safety and are under pressure to strengthen as the season progresses.
