Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Mario Lemina was charged with causing a disturbance after his side fell 2-1 to West Ham United in the English top-flight.
The loss may have saved West Ham’s manager Julen Lopetegui from the sack, at least for a while, as for Wolves’ Gary O’Neil, the future is bleak after three consecutive losses. The was ended in the 54th minute when Tomas Soucek leapt in and head the ball into an open net at the far post unchallenged from Bowen’s corner kick.
O’Neil was fuming on the touchline after another penalty was missed when Emerson Palmieri blocked Goncalo Guedes. It was, though, briefly lifted later when Rayan Ait-Nouri put in a cross from the right for Doherty to head home for equality. Slaying looked terrible for O’Neil from 72nd minute as Bowen beat Guedes and then scored a marvelous goal after offering Antonio’s shirt.
At the end of the match, we saw a bust up between Bowen and Lemina. Lemina who was standing near Bowen extended his hand to greet him angrily and immediately they began to argue. Matters were taken to the next level where Lemina appeared to shove Bowen only to Mudimu intervene not so peacefully from the other side of the pitch to end the scuffle.
In the end, the two got physical and shook each other only after the managers O’Neil and Julen Lopetegui came in between, though the squabble went on for several minutes, in the process Lemina caused the referee to caution him. Besides, Lemina was also observed elbowing Wolves coach Shaun Derry to the ground during the skirmish.
