Former Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday forward, Warren Feeney, has been named the new manager for Weymouth FC, a non-league club occupying the basement of the National League South division.
The 43-year-old Northern Irishman, who also represented Cardiff City, Luton Town, and the Northern Ireland national team during his playing career, takes over at Weymouth with a clear mission: to guarantee the club’s existence in the National League South and build a stable for a successful future.
Newport County and his time in a former role at Glentoran in Northern Ireland, as well as time as a helper to Harry Kewell at Crawley Town and a spell at Notts County. Weymouth newest appointment is new in his managerial career, and he is ready to commence his work.
In his remarks, Weymouth FC chairman Paul Maitland said, “We received more than 25 applications and conducted interviews with six candidates for the position.” As expected the board was also fully supportive of this appointment and we are looking forward to having you with us, Warren.
This week the former Chelsea youth coach will take his first training session with the squad and will be expected to restore Weymouth’s fortunes and steer the team clear of the relegation zone in National League South. Because of that, Feeney is quite sure that he will be able to give a positive contribution at the club and bring in what the club wants.
