‘HOT PURSUIT: Tottenham Gains Upper Hand as Rivals Face Rejection in Transfer Bid – Second Spurs Offer on the Horizon’

January 6, 2024

Tottenham’s pursuit of defender appears to have received a potential uplift, following reports of Napoli’s initial bid for the player being rejected. Sacha Tavolieri has shed light on the ongoing contest for Dragusin’s signature, with both Tottenham and Napoli vying for the talented defender.

Spurs have made it a priority to reinforce their central defense in the current transfer window, driven by their manager, Ange Postecoglou’s acknowledgment of the urgent need to address injuries to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. Among their targets, Dragusin has emerged as a focal point, although negotiations with Genoa have yet to yield a breakthrough, owing to the club’s steadfast stance on securing a significant fee for their prized asset.

This scenario has raised concerns that Tottenham might lose out in the race for Dragusin, particularly as Napoli has also entered the fray, aiming to fortify their ranks under the leadership of President Aurelio de Laurentiis.

However, there is a glimmer of optimism in the latest update from Tavolieri, as he reveals that Genoa has responded to Napoli’s initial bid by rebuffing it. Napoli’s initial proposal, which included €20 million plus Alessandro Zanoli and Leo Østigård, was turned down by Genoa, which led to a subsequent demand of €25 million, along with the loan of Zanoli and Østigård, indicating a preference against a permanent transfer at this stage.

Comparatively, Napoli’s offer currently outweighs Tottenham’s, as Spurs have tabled an offer of €18 million thus far. However, there are indications that Tottenham is preparing to present a second bid for the defender quite imminently.

It has been asserted that Dragusin’s inclination is to play in the Premier League, giving Tottenham an edge in this situation. Furthermore, Napoli’s initial rebuff could potentially create an opportune moment for Tottenham to make significant strides in their pursuit of the defender.

Evidently, swift action is imperative for Tottenham if they intend to secure Dragusin, given Napoli’s decisive approach and their willingness to provide varied solutions to Genoa in order to facilitate the player’s transfer.
