Linked with Leeds United, Wolverhampton and Leicester City, Josh Brownhill has surprised many by taking an unexpected route. The 29-year-old English midfielder has officially signed for Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.

A key figure in Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League last season, Brownhill was unable to agree on a contract extension with the Clarets. His free-agent status sparked plenty of speculation, but he has now chosen to continue his career in the Middle East. Reports suggest he has signed a highly lucrative deal.

A New Adventure in Saudi Arabia

A product of Manchester United’s academy and a former Barnsley loanee, Brownhill now begins a new chapter in Riyadh, where he will link up with Wesley Hoedt, the ex-Southampton and Watford defender.

In his first interview with the club, Brownhill expressed his excitement:
