BOLD MOVE BY WOLVES: Club to Make Surprise Head Coach Decision with Leeds United Looming

September 18, 2025

Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing to take a surprising step as they look to turn their season around before facing Leeds United.

After four Premier League matches, Wolves find themselves bottom of the table with four straight defeats. While the season is still young, such a poor start has already put pressure on the team and its leadership, with the fear that early struggles could snowball later on.

Their upcoming showdown with Leeds, who are currently 16th and still chasing their first goal from open play, carries added importance.

Wolves back Pereira

Despite their rocky form, Wolves appear set to back manager Vitor Pereira with a new contract.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the club and Pereira have verbally agreed on a fresh three-year deal. He wrote on X: “Vitor Pereira, set to sign a new three-year deal at Wolves with agreement verbally done. Full trust from the board for the manager, who’s staying at WWFC.”

The move highlights the board’s belief that Pereira is the right man to steady the ship, even as other clubs have shown less patience—such as Sheffield United, who dismissed Ruben Selles after only five Championship games this season.

The call for stability

Wolves’ executive chairman Jeff Shi recently underlined the importance of continuity, explaining:

“Wolves need stability now. We need a coach to stay and help us for the long term. Every coach needs time, and the right pieces to put the jigsaw together. If you have chemistry and unity between the squad and the coach, you have a strong season. If not, doubts will appear.”

Shi added that Pereira has already helped address past issues with team spirit, insisting the squad is now more unified and committed than before.

Wolves will look to prove that faith justified when they meet Leeds at Molineux on Saturday, September 20, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
