Joshua Zirkzee’s influence at Manchester United may have faded in recent months, but the Dutch forward continues to draw serious attention from clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an eventful debut campaign at Old Trafford, earning admiration from supporters last winter for his energy, commitment, and technical quality. However, his opportunities have been limited this season under Rúben Amorim, with Benjamin Šeško now established as the first-choice striker and Matheus Cunha also preferred through the middle. Behind them, Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount have been favoured for the attacking midfield roles, leaving Zirkzee struggling for minutes.

Zirkzee pushing for more minutes

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Zirkzee is growing frustrated with his lack of game time so far this season. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano clarified that while the Dutchman is “not happy” about his limited involvement, he remains “fully committed” to the club and determined to earn a bigger role through hard work and patience.

Despite his professionalism, Zirkzee’s stance could change by January if his situation does not improve. With Ronald Koeman reportedly concerned about his form and playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup, a winter exit might be considered to boost his international chances.

Interest from West Ham and Serie A

Several clubs are said to be monitoring developments closely. Romano notes that a number of Serie A sides—where Zirkzee previously excelled with Bologna—are keen to bring him back to Italy. Meanwhile, West Ham United have also expressed interest in a potential move should United open the door to negotiations.

Zirkzee’s blend of intelligence, technique, and versatility continues to make him an attractive option for sides seeking a dynamic forward.

United’s dilemma

However, United may be reluctant to let him go. With Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund both expected to leave permanently, Amorim cannot afford to lose another attacking option. The club’s depth up front is already thin, meaning keeping Zirkzee and reintegrating him into the side could prove crucial for the second half of the season.

For now, the Dutchman remains focused on fighting for his place — but unless Amorim gives him more opportunities soon, the January window could bring a new chapter in Zirkzee’s career.
