Crystal Palace could be forced to find a new defensive leader in January, with Marc Guehi increasingly likely to leave Selhurst Park.

Manager Oliver Glasner recently confirmed that Guehi will depart next year, with the England international’s contract set to expire at the end of the season. However, there remains a strong chance that the centre-back could be sold in the winter window rather than allowed to leave on a free.

Guehi has attracted interest from several European heavyweights — including Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona — all of whom are reportedly monitoring his situation closely. A January move could allow one of those clubs to secure his signature ahead of the summer rush.

If Guehi does depart mid-season, Palace already appear to have identified a possible replacement: Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck.

The German defender was linked with the Eagles during the summer, and according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio — speaking to Wettfreunde — the Premier League side could return for him in January.

“I can’t imagine Bisseck leaving in January,” Di Marzio explained. “Inter rate him very highly and would want at least €35–40 million. Eintracht Frankfurt won’t spend that kind of money, but Crystal Palace might consider a move if Guehi leaves.”

However, reports surrounding Bisseck’s valuation have been inconsistent. While Di Marzio suggested Inter would only entertain offers in the €35–40m range, other sources last week claimed the Italian club could be willing to sell for around £22m — particularly if Bisseck pushes for a move to revive his chances of making Germany’s 2026 World Cup squad.

For now, Palace are believed to be monitoring the situation rather than making an active push. Guehi is still expected to remain in South London until the summer — but should that change in January, Bisseck could quickly become the club’s top defensive target.
