West Ham United have reportedly made a decision on Nuno Espirito Santo’s future, while Wolves’ hierarchy held urgent talks over the position of Vitor Pereira following another disappointing weekend in the Premier League.
Both managers are under growing pressure, with their sides sitting bottom of the table — Wolves in 20th and West Ham just above them in 19th. Nuno is yet to secure a win in four matches since taking charge of the Hammers, and Pereira remains winless this season with Wolves.
Nuno’s latest job has mirrored the turbulent end to his short Nottingham Forest spell earlier in the campaign, when he was dismissed after clashing with owner Evangelos Marinakis. Despite West Ham’s poor form, however, the London club are not planning another managerial change anytime soon.
According to The Sun, West Ham’s board remain committed to supporting Nuno and are prepared to back him in the January transfer window. Club insiders reportedly believe the team’s struggles stem more from flawed recruitment than coaching, acknowledging it was a mistake not to strengthen the forward line during the summer — aside from signing free agent Callum Wilson.
“Regardless of how difficult things are, West Ham do not want to repeat Nottingham Forest’s mistakes,” the report says. “The club insists Nuno will be supported now and in January.”
While Nuno looks set to stay, the same cannot be said for Pereira at Wolves. The Portuguese coach’s position has become increasingly fragile following a 3-2 defeat at home to Burnley — a result that left fans furious and chanting for his dismissal.
Football Insider reports that Wolves’ owners, the Fosun Group, were in attendance at Molineux on Sunday and held internal discussions that evening about whether to sack Pereira. A delegation of around 11 representatives from the Chinese investment company reportedly witnessed the team’s seventh league loss of the campaign.
After the game, Pereira reacted angrily to the crowd’s chants but defended his players, insisting the team needed unity rather than division.
“We understand the frustration,” he said. “But if we stay united, we can still win games and meet our targets. Without the supporters, it’s impossible. Two months ago they were singing my name because we stayed in the Premier League. Now they sing for me to be sacked.
“If I were a supporter, I’d still be proud of my players. They fought hard, showed spirit and ambition even after going 2-0 down.”
With both West Ham and Wolves languishing at the bottom and underperforming, the pressure is mounting fast — and while Nuno appears safe for now, Pereira’s future looks increasingly uncertain.
