KEY PLAYERS RULED OUT: Oliver Glasner reveals Crystal Palace injury blow as lineup change confirmed for Liverpool clash

October 28, 2025

Oliver Glasner, the Crystal Palace manager, has confirmed that Walter Benitez and Jaydee Canvot will start in the Carabao Cup fourth-round match against Liverpool on Wednesday. Benitez will replace the regular goalkeeper, while Canvot will be drafted into the starting lineup.

Glasner praised Canvot’s performance in training and acknowledged that despite an error in a previous match, the defender has shown his worth and will start in the back three against Liverpool. Benitez, who impressed with his penalty-saving skills in the last round against Millwall, also deserves a starting role according to Glasner.

However, there is a setback for Palace as Chris Richards will miss the Liverpool clash due to a calf injury sustained in the defeat against Arsenal. Richards’ absence poses a challenge for Glasner, especially considering the defender has played every minute of Palace’s league campaign so far.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding Liverpool’s starting lineup, Glasner prepares for the midweek match knowing that Liverpool tends to rotate their team in cup competitions. He acknowledges Liverpool’s quality and the challenges they present, emphasizing that his team is focused on their own performance rather than analyzing Liverpool’s recent struggles.

Glasner remains positive about Palace’s chances, highlighting the fitness and determination shown by the players in previous matches. With Richards sidelined, Palace will need to adapt and put in a strong performance against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup clash.
