The ongoing saga with Genoa’s Radu Dragusin continues, with sources revealing to HITC Football that Spurs managed to outmaneuver Bayern Munich in securing the 21-year-old’s signature, despite the German club’s last-minute attempt to hijack the deal.

Should the anticipated transfer materialize, Gary Rowett is convinced that Dragusin would be an exceptional addition to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, as he expressed on The Transfer Show aired on Sky Sports.

Recognized for his versatility and precisely the attribute Postecoglou covets – speed, Dragusin stands out as a highly-regarded prospect across Europe.

According to former Millwall boss Gary Rowett, Dragusin is an assertive and agile defender, adept at maneuvering within a back three, a tactical arrangement yet to be utilized by Postecoglou but now feasible with the addition of another center-back.

This acquisition fills a critical gap in Tottenham’s roster, earning high praise from Rowett, despite his observations about Spurs’ modus operandi under Daniel Levy.

Rowett remarked on Spurs’ customary inclination to seek shrewd deals instead of paying top dollar. Nonetheless, he believes Dragusin is tailor-made for Spurs, citing the player’s aggressive and mobile attributes that perfectly align with Tottenham’s desired defensive style.

“This isn’t about Spurs needing someone in the starting lineup; it’s about improving squad depth, a lacking aspect this season,” Rowett emphasized.

With Tottenham currently positioned fifth in the Premier League, these early January acquisitions coupled with returning injured players bolster the club’s optimism for a potential top-four finish, marking a departure from their usual transfer strategy towards an efficient and effective approach in the market.
