Dennis Cirkin has expressed his relief and excitement after making a successful return to competitive action with Sunderland’s Under-21 team.

Having featured in two matches against Ipswich Town and Athletic Club, Cirkin highlighted the long journey back to the pitch following a tough spell on the sidelines. He expressed his joy at finally getting proper playing time after facing setbacks during his recovery.

Cirkin commended Sunderland’s medical and coaching staff for their support in helping him through the rehabilitation process and getting him match fit. He mentioned that although training with the team was beneficial, nothing compared to the feeling of being out on the field.

The defender’s focus now is on enhancing his fitness and sharpness to be in contention for a first-team spot once again. He aims to continue progressing in the coming weeks.

Cirkin also drew inspiration from Sunderland’s impressive start to the season under Régis Le Bris, noting the positive atmosphere within the team. He looks forward to contributing to the team’s success and is determined to be ready when called upon.

Meanwhile, reports from Turkey suggest that Arthur Masuaku, Sunderland’s left-back, might consider leaving the club in January. Despite signing a two-year deal earlier this year, the 32-year-old has struggled for playing time under Le Bris. Masuaku is reportedly open to a return to Beşiktaş, where he had previously played and maintained close connections.

The player’s lack of involvement has caused disappointment, prompting speculation about a potential move back to his former club. Sunderland has not addressed these rumors surrounding Masuaku’s future.
