SAD DEPARTURE: Crystal Palace now willing to sell ‘superstar’ in summer as 3 Premier League clubs eye move

Crystal Palace are prepared to part with Adam Wharton this summer if a substantial bid arrives, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City all monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

Wharton has been on the radar of top Premier League clubs for some time, and interest has intensified as he continues to impress. The England international is expected to aim for regular football at a Champions League club, something Liverpool and City can currently provide. United, meanwhile, are pushing to return to Europe’s top competition under Ruben Amorim.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that Palace will sanction a sale at the end of the season should a major offer come in. Alongside the three English giants, teams from abroad have also tracked Wharton’s progress. Palace’s willingness to cash in could help fund a new contract for Jean-Philippe Mateta, while the club are still exploring the option of offering Wharton a fresh deal that includes a release clause. That clause, however, is unlikely to deter serious bidders.

The exact valuation Palace will set remains unclear, but they are expected to demand a significant fee before allowing Wharton to move on.

Wharton’s profile makes him an appealing target for multiple top sides. United need a deep-lying midfielder capable of controlling games, Liverpool are seeking fresh quality after an inconsistent season, and City value depth in key positions even with Rodri established as one of the best in the world.
