Crystal Palace are reportedly set on ending the uncertainty surrounding one of their standout performers, with the club pushing to secure a new contract amid growing outside interest.
Palace stars drawing elite attention
With the Eagles flying high in the Champions League spots, it’s no shock that Europe’s biggest sides are circling. Real Madrid are said to be preparing a £35m January move for Marc Guehi, whose contract ends in 2026. Manager Oliver Glasner has already admitted the centre-back intends to move on, revealing the club offered him fresh terms only for Guehi to decide he wanted “something different.”
While Palace seem resigned to losing Guehi in the long term, they remain confident of keeping others. Adam Wharton is tied down until 2029, giving the club leverage as interest in the young midfielder continues to rise.
Another key figure is Daichi Kamada, an ever-present force this season with 21 appearances across competitions. Former scout Mick Brown claims Glasner and his staff rate the Japan international extremely highly and are pushing for the club to secure his future as soon as possible.
“From what I’m hearing, the coaching team really value him,” Brown told Football Insider. “Palace want to acknowledge what he’s contributed and keep him around. They’ll look to get a deal done before the season ends so speculation doesn’t grow.”
Why Palace must act now
Kamada, who earns around £150k per week, is approaching the end of his current deal this summer, making contract talks a priority. Since recovering from a knee problem, the 29-year-old has started every Premier League game available and scooped back-to-back Player of the Month awards in September and October. Glasner has also publicly praised him in the past, calling his displays “excellent.”
With Guehi set to depart and Wharton turning heads across Europe, Palace can’t risk a major summer overhaul. Securing Kamada’s long-term future is seen as essential to maintaining stability and keeping their upward momentum intact.
