DESTRUCTIVE REJECTION! PALACE’S TOP TARGET BOLTS DOOR SHUT WITH RUTHLESS CONTRACT RENEWAL! (They Still Want €80m Even If He Fails At AFCON!)

Crystal Palace have been handed an important update from Portugal after Sporting confirmed Ousmane Diomande has signed a new long term contract.

According to Record, the centre back has agreed fresh terms that will keep him at the club until June 2030. The deal was finalised shortly before Diomande departed to represent Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations. While the new agreement includes a pay rise, his €80 million release clause has been left unchanged.

The report claims negotiations had slowed in recent weeks due to strong interest from Premier League clubs. Crystal Palace were among those pushing hardest, having previously submitted an offer worth €55 million for the defender. Sporting responded by moving quickly to secure his future, making an improved proposal that satisfied both the player and his representatives.

Despite the contract extension, Sporting’s stance in the transfer market has not shifted significantly. The release clause remains the same, and the renewal is viewed in Portugal as recognition of Diomande’s importance rather than an attempt to block future interest entirely.

Diomande had been earning around €800,000 per year, and his new salary reflects his growing influence within the squad. For Palace, that detail is relevant, as the pathway to a potential move has not been completely closed off.

Much may now depend on his performances at AFCON. A strong tournament with Ivory Coast could further fuel Premier League interest. Sporting have secured several key players to new deals recently, and while Diomande is now among them, his future remains one to keep a close eye on.
