It’s a day after the horror show, and Wilfried Nancy is still the Celtic manager.
All eyes will be on the likes of Dermot Desmond and whether or not the powers that be at Celtic will sack their recently-appointed coach.
Celtic’s defeat to Rangers on Saturday afternoon is the last straw for many, if not all, the supporters, and they want Nancy out of the door.
And remember, some wanted Nancy gone long before the Rangers game, but as Hugh Keevins put it, it’s the man who brought him in that needs to push the button.
Hugh Keevins on Dermot Desmond and Wilfried Nancy as Celtic lose to Rangers
After winning nearly every game under Martin O’Neill, Celtic are now losing the majority of their matches, and Nancy simply can’t survive.
But speaking on Clyde 1, Keevins stated that ‘the word’ is that Desmond was the one who appointed Nancy, even though Paul Tisdale’s fingerprints have seemingly been all over it.
And if Nancy is to get sacked, then Keevins added that the board members will have to ask Desmond for his ‘approval’ for it to happen.
On what needs to happen for Celtic to sack Nancy: “You have to say, ‘Mr Desmond, is that okay if we sack him?’” responded Keevins.
“The word is, and I cannot state with certainty that it’s true, that he (Nancy) is the idea of Dermot Desmond.
“When Dermot Desmond and Brendan Rodgers fail to see eye-to-eye, Brendan was out. Left with the statement written by Dermot Desmond, which left Brendan Rodgers without a name.
“So, if Dermot Desmond wanted Wilfried Nancy brought into the club. Dermot Desmond would have to approve Wilfried Nancy going out of the club. That’s why I don’t think it will happen tonight (day of the game). Talks will have to take place over the weekend.
Will Desmond ‘sit back’ and watch Celtic go into ‘decline’?
To think Celtic were on the verge of a Treble last season, and now they could go the campaign trophyless.
Celtic fans haven’t been used to that for the last two decades, as Keevins asked the question as to whether Desmond is going to ‘sit back’ and watch the club go into ‘decline.’
“But I cannot believe that a businessman as successful as Dermot Desmond can sit back and watch Celtic business go into decline, partly because of a managerial appointment, which has been catastrophically wrong,” added Keevins”
