Daniel Muñoz has been advised to put any thoughts of leaving Crystal Palace on hold this month, particularly with the World Cup drawing closer.
The guidance has come from former Colombia goalkeeper Óscar Córdoba, who shared his views in an interview with Red Mas while appearing on the RED + NOTICIAS show SÍ ERA GOL.
Muñoz has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park for some time following a series of impressive displays under Oliver Glasner. Since arriving from Genk in January 2024 for around €8 million, the wingback has delivered 10 goals and 14 assists in 85 appearances, earning a reputation as one of Europe’s standout players in his position.
His form has attracted strong interest, with Chelsea and Manchester City both reported to have shown interest, while the player himself has previously spoken about his ambition to play for Manchester United. Palace have also been linked with potential successors, including Sacha Boey and Zakaria El Ouahdi, suggesting they may be planning ahead.
However, Muñoz is currently sidelined with a knee injury, which has slowed any immediate transfer momentum. Córdoba believes that works in the player’s favour and feels now is not the right moment for a change.
He explained that returning to full fitness and focusing on performances should be the priority, especially with international commitments approaching. In his view, moving clubs at this stage would not significantly improve Muñoz’s situation, as the focus should be on playing regularly, helping his current team collect points, and preparing properly for the World Cup.
Córdoba added that Muñoz needs time back on the pitch to show his qualities again and that staying at Palace for now is the best course of action.
