Sky Sports: Celtic Secures “Deal” to Acquire “Tactically Gifted” Player Following Latest Twist

January 14, 2024

Celtic appears to be on the verge of unveiling their first signing in the January transfer window, with a prospective player set to undergo a medical after a “complete agreement” was reached with the Scottish Premiership champions.

Brendan Rodgers has been vocal about his intention to bolster the team during the January window, emphasizing the need for additional quality to secure a third consecutive league title. In December, Rodgers stated, “There’s no doubt now that, one, the squad will come down in numbers and obviously we need to add quality.”

While recent discussions about Celtic’s transfer activities have focused on player departures, including Ideguchi, Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Lagerbielke, Kobayashi, Tilio, Siegrist, and Bernabei, there’s now exciting news about an imminent winter signing.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn is on the brink of joining Celtic, with a “total agreement” on a fee around €3.5 million + add-ons. A medical is scheduled for Monday, marking a significant step toward completing the deal.

Celtic fans have reason to celebrate as they approach securing the former Germany Under-20 international. Earlier this week, The Scottish Sun reported that Kuhn had been granted a work permit for his move to Glasgow.

Described as “technically strong” by Bayern Munich academy manager Jochen Sauer, Kuhn has displayed his abilities with three goals and seven assists in 22 appearances this season. Expected to bring excitement and trickery to the wide areas, Kuhn could be a valuable asset for Rodgers against low-block defenses in the upcoming season.
