SUITORS LAUNCH MAJOR BID FOR PALACE STAR! But Eagles Deliver COLD Transfer Snub

Crystal Palace have turned down an approach from AC Milan for forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, even though the player is understood to have reached an agreement with the Serie A club.

According to Foot Mercato, Milan have lodged a formal bid as they continue their search for a new striker. The Italian giants have assessed a number of attacking options in recent weeks and believe Mateta could be the right profile to strengthen their squad.

The 28-year-old has impressed since taking his game up a level under Oliver Glasner and has made it clear he is open to leaving Selhurst Park during this window. Milan moved to test Palace’s resolve on Friday, submitting an offer for the Frenchman.

While the exact details of the proposal have not been disclosed, the response from Palace was immediate and firm, with the bid knocked back straight away. That decision came despite Mateta already agreeing personal terms with Milan, highlighting Palace’s determination to hold out.

Mateta’s situation has attracted attention from across Europe after he signalled his desire for a new challenge. Juventus were previously seen as leading the race but have cooled their interest after becoming frustrated by rising demands from both Palace and the player’s camp. Aston Villa have also been linked with a potential move.

For now, Milan have joined the list of suitors, but their opening attempt has failed, with Palace making it clear they are not prepared to let Mateta go easily.
