Crystal Palace have opted to leave Christantus Uche out of their updated UEFA Conference League squad in order to register Brennan Johnson, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Evann Guessand, according to GIVEMESPORT reporter Bobby Manzi.
After booking their place in the next phase of the competition, Palace were required to submit a revised squad that met UEFA’s registration limits. With restrictions on squad size and homegrown players, the club were forced into a tough call. Uche, who has found minutes hard to come by domestically, was the player left out.
The European stage has actually provided Uche with his most consistent run of action this season. The Nigerian forward has featured four times in the Conference League, logging 174 minutes, compared to just 155 minutes in the Premier League spread across 12 substitute appearances. Even so, his place has now been sacrificed to make room for January arrivals.

Manzi reports that Palace were limited to naming a 24 man squad due to having only three club trained players available. That left little flexibility, and the decision was taken to omit Uche so the new signings could be registered for the knockout rounds.
Uche arrived at Selhurst Park last summer under Oliver Glasner, but his role has remained minimal throughout the campaign. Being excluded from the European squad only adds to the frustration of what has been a difficult first season in south London and raises fresh questions about his long-term future at the club.
The imbalance between his European and league minutes underlines how low he sits in the pecking order. Glasner has rarely turned to him in domestic competition, and it would be no surprise if Uche is already considering his options.
There is, however, a potential lifeline. With Glasner expected to depart at the end of the season, a change in the dugout could offer Uche a chance to reset. A new manager may view him differently and be willing to give him a clearer run, though whether that opportunity arrives remains to be seen.
