Rangers and Celtic are set to go head to head in the race to sign Dundee defender Luke Graham this summer, according to Football Insider.
Attention may currently be fixed on the Premiership title picture, especially after Celtic’s dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, sealed by a 97th minute strike from on loan defender Julian Araujo. Martin O’Neill’s side sit third in the table, three points behind Hearts, but they have a game in hand and could climb to the summit with a strong result.
Behind the scenes, however, recruitment plans are already taking shape at both Ibrox and Parkhead.
Rangers and Celtic monitoring Luke Graham
Football Insider reports that both Glasgow rivals are keen on Dundee centre back Luke Graham following an eye catching campaign at Dens Park.
The 22 year old returned in the summer from a loan spell at Falkirk and has quickly established himself as a key figure for Dundee during the 2025-26 season. The left footed defender has featured 30 times in all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist.
His early season displays attracted a club record offer on transfer deadline day from an unnamed side, believed to be Championship outfit Portsmouth. Interest has also been credited to Queens Park Rangers. Dundee turned down the approach, with manager Steven Pressley determined to retain one of his most important defenders for the remainder of the season.
There is clear potential in Graham’s profile. He combines strong physical attributes with composure in possession, qualities that tend to appeal to top Scottish sides. However, stepping into an Old Firm environment would represent a significant jump in expectation and scrutiny.
While the interest from Rangers and Celtic underlines his promise, he may still require further development and sustained consistency at Premiership level before becoming a regular starter for a title contender. Dundee’s firm stance in January also suggests that any deal would require a substantial fee.
Maswanhise also on the radar
The same report claims that Rangers and Celtic are also tracking Motherwell forward Tawanda Maswanhise ahead of the summer window.
Both clubs were linked with the 23 year old in January, but he remained at Fir Park. Maswanhise has enjoyed an outstanding season, sitting joint top of the Scottish Premiership scoring charts alongside Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren with 13 league goals. Across all competitions, he has struck 18 times in 31 appearances.
With the title race intensifying and squad rebuilds looming, the summer window could see another transfer battle between Scotland’s two biggest clubs.
