Crystal Palace are closing in on a permanent deal for Aston Villa striker Evann Guessand this summer, with Sky Sports revealing the specific clauses that will trigger the transfer.
The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international joined Selhurst Park on loan in January and has quickly impressed under manager Oliver Glasner. Despite struggling to establish himself at Villa, where he made 13 Premier League appearances mostly from the bench totaling just 588 minutes, Guessand has already found a more prominent role in South London.
According to Sky Sports, the permanent transfer hinges on goal involvements. Guessand has already contributed three goals or assists since his arrival, and five more will automatically trigger Palace’s obligation to buy him for £28 million.
This creates an advantageous position for the Eagles. If the France-born forward reaches eight total goal contributions by season’s end, the fee represents solid value in today’s market. His current record of two goals and one assist in only 144 minutes of Premier League action suggests he is more than capable of hitting that target, particularly if Glasner continues to increase his playing time.
A permanent exit from Villa Park appears inevitable for Guessand regardless, as he was clearly not part of Unai Emery’s plans.
