Tottenham is reportedly edging closer to securing a deal for Club Brugge forward Antonio Nusa, who is seen as a potential long-term successor to club captain Son Heung-min. The 18-year-old’s impressive performances in the Belgian Pro League have attracted the interest of several top European teams, with Spurs emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.

According to Belgian outlet HLN, Brugge is currently in discussions with Spurs regarding Nusa, with the North London club ready to offer over £26 million for the highly regarded prospect. Barring any unforeseen developments, he is expected to make the move to Tottenham this month, in a deal that is clearly part of the club’s plans for the future.

Should the deal be finalized, it is anticipated that Nusa would remain with Brugge for the remainder of the season, as Spurs have already brought in Timo Werner on loan to address their short-term squad requirements while Son is on international duty at the Asia Cup.

Previously, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal have all displayed interest in the young Norwegian international, with Chelsea reportedly making a £26 million bid for Nusa on the last day of the summer transfer window. However, Tottenham appears to have ultimately triumphed in the pursuit, pending the completion of the remaining details of the agreement.

Nusa himself acknowledged that a potential move to Stamford Bridge was rejected late in the previous transfer window. He stated, “We had a match, Osasuna at home I think. I knew about their interest, but I was not informed about the offer. After the match I turned on my phone and the messages kept coming. The news had leaked. I was shocked, but we had actually decided much earlier to stay in Bruges anyway. It surprised me too. I thought: ‘Wow, that’s a lot of money’. However, we had known for some time what we would do, so it didn’t cause me much stress. You think about it, but all in all I remained calm.”
