Hugh Keevins Refuses to Back Down From “Zero Percent” Celtic Title Prediction
Veteran radio pundit Hugh Keevins is standing firmly by his controversial claim that Celtic have absolutely no chance of winning the Scottish Premiership this season.
Despite being repeatedly proven wrong by the Hoops throughout the current campaign, the Clyde 1 Superscoreboard regular is sticking to his guns. Following Celtic’s recent 1-0 victory over St Mirren as the league enters its split, Keevins reiterated a prediction that many supporters find completely absurd.
During a recent broadcast, Keevins pointed to a supposed lack of firepower in Martin O’Neill’s squad as the primary reason for his harsh assessment. He stated that he simply does not believe Celtic can capture the league flag without a reliable goalscorer. Furthermore, he argued that rival clubs like Rangers and Hearts actually have a better chance of securing a victory when they visit Celtic Park due to the home side’s attacking deficiencies.
Elaborating on the current striker situation, Keevins compared Youssef Chermiti and Tomas Cvancara. He noted that while both players require multiple opportunities to find the back of the net, he would personally choose Chermiti. He bluntly added that if Cvancara is Celtic’s main hope for title glory, their chances are completely finished.
Keevins also preempted arguments from his fellow panel members, specifically mentioning Gordon Dalziel’s likely defense of Benjamin Nygren. The veteran journalist dismissed Nygren by highlighting his recent goal drought. However, show presenter Andrew McLean quickly stepped in to remind Keevins that Nygren is actually sitting as the second highest scorer in the entire league.
When pressed by the panel on what exact percentage he would give Celtic to win the league, Keevins remained completely stubborn. He declared he was still at zero and defended his stance by reminding listeners that the radio show is built entirely on personal opinions. He invited his critics to gang up on him but firmly stood by his zero percent valuation.
Listeners of the popular radio show are well aware of Keevins’ poor track record when predicting Celtic’s downfall. He previously tipped them to lose both of their crucial trips to Ibrox in March and wrongly backed Motherwell to secure an upset victory in Glasgow last month. He also predicted Celtic defeats for both of their away fixtures at Tynecastle this season.
With his relentless pessimism becoming a running joke on the airwaves, the current Celtic squad now has a perfect opportunity to force the outspoken pundit to eat a massive slice of humble pie.
