Tottenham star picks up worrying discomfort at international duties, could be sent home

Tottenham Hotspur star endured significant discomfort during his international duties today.

Son participated in a fixture for South Korea and made an impact as he contributed to Jurgen Klinsmann’s team securing a 5-0 victory over Singapore.

The 31-year-old delivered a remarkable goal from the edge of the box, elegantly curling his effort into the top corner. However, as his team was comfortably securing a win, Son encountered a forceful challenge in the 80th minute.

In a video shared on X, the Tottenham captain is visibly in substantial pain following the robust tackle.

The footage shows Son rolling on the ground, clearly in discomfort after the challenge. Although he managed to rise to his feet, he walked off the pitch with a limp, a sight that may have caused concern for Tottenham fans.

Thankfully, the forward returned to the field after the injury and completed the full 90 minutes.

Tottenham certainly cannot afford another injury to a key player, having already suffered setbacks with James Maddison and Micky van de Ven, both of whom are expected to be out until the new year.

Son has been a leading force for Spurs this season, with eight goals in 12 Premier League games.

While it would be a significant setback for Postecoglou to lose the £22 million forward to injury, Spurs should be reassured by the fact that Son continued to play.

Tottenham will be hopeful that they do not encounter any further injury issues during the international break, as Postecoglou faces an already challenging task in the coming weeks.
