After expressing his desire to part ways with Tottenham last summer but facing an unsuccessful exit, Hugo Lloris finally secured a move in January, heading to LAFC on a free transfer. Ange Postecoglou promptly replaced him with Guglielmo Vicario, who has been the primary goalkeeper since the season’s commencement.

In an interview with L’Equipe on Wednesday, Lloris delved into various topics, shedding light on his departure from Tottenham. Anticipating his integration with LAFC, he highlighted his eagerness to explore a new continent after 19 years in European football. The experienced goalkeeper expressed satisfaction with choosing the MLS, emphasizing the significance of the United States in the sporting realm, even though football isn’t the predominant sport.

Addressing speculations about a potential return to Nice, Lloris clarified that the club was not part of his plans, opting for a fresh experience. He expressed enthusiasm for his decision to join the MLS and eagerly anticipated embracing the new environment.

Lloris, now a former Tottenham goalkeeper, ruled out representing France in the upcoming Olympic Games, leaving that opportunity to the younger generation. However, he left the door slightly ajar, indicating a willingness to reconsider if the need arose.

Having transferred to Tottenham from Lyon in 2012, Lloris amassed 444 appearances for the Premier League side, conceding 508 goals and achieving 121 clean sheets during his tenure.
