“English Star Set for Shock Tottenham Exit Amid Intense Rumors – Everton Transfer on the Horizon”

January 25, 2024

Tottenham Hotspur is expected to part ways with Oliver Skipp in the upcoming summer transfer window as manager Ange Postecoglou seeks to revamp the midfield, as per Alan Hutton.

Although Crystal Palace expressed interest in the 23-year-old, attempting to secure him on loan in January, Skipp is not anticipated to be available for transfer this month [The Athletic, 12 January].

However, beyond the current season, Skipp’s future becomes uncertain, with suggestions circulating that he might be sold as Postecoglou continues to reshape the midfield during the summer transfer window.

While Hutton acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding Skipp’s fate, he wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave North London, possibly joining a team like Everton in the coming months.

“It really is going to come down to who they can bring in,” Hutton stated to Tottenham News. “You look at the likes of Skipp, Hojbjerg, these kinds of guys, rumours circulate that they may be leaving. Sarr and Bissouma are kind of the mainstays, then you’ve got Bentancur in there. Who else are they going to add?”

“Are they going to look to change that midfield dynamic? We’ll have to wait and see but he obviously gives you something different; he is kind of that Hojbjerg-type, tough tackling and gets about with enthusiasm.”

“It just depends on what they’re looking for in that midfield set-up. Would I be shocked if he was to leave in the summer? Probably not, and I think that kind of Everton, somewhere around there would suit him best.”

“But this is crystal ball stuff, we’re all just kind of guessing, so we’ll wait and see.”

Skipp has featured in 15 Premier League games for Tottenham this season, with only three of those appearances in Postecoglou’s starting XI. Despite offering reliable performances, it is uncertain whether he can secure a regular starting spot in the team’s midfield. The summer transfer window will reveal Skipp’s destination if his time with Spurs concludes at the end of the season.
