Leicester City receive enquiry for £9.3 Million-rated defender

February 1, 2024

According to Football Insider, Sheffield United are interested in Leicester City’s Harry Souttar. The Championship club have approached Leicester about the availability of the 25-year-old defender. Souttar has only played three times for Leicester this season, totaling 188 minutes on the field.

Currently, Souttar is lower down in the pecking order at Leicester, behind Jannik Vestergaard and Wout Faes. Leicester is looking to sign a defender before the transfer deadline, and Souttar is one of their targets.

Leicester signed Souttar from Stoke City for about £14.5 million in January of last year, but he has only played 16 times for the Foxes. Sheffield United are at the bottom of the Premier League table and are interested in several players, including Souttar, Mason Holgate from Everton, and Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest.

Souttar has experience in the Premier League, having been relegated with Leicester last season. Currently on international duty with Australia at the Asia Cup, Souttar has played in all five of their fixtures, scoring once against Indonesia.

If Souttar reaches the final of the competition with Australia, he won’t return to England until after February 10th. Sheffield United could potentially see Souttar make his debut for the team on February 18th, depending on the outcome of Australia’s matches in the tournament.
